Bordeaux’s 2010 followed the super-hyped 2009 as another vintage of the century, arguably greater than anything that has hit those hills and vineyards for the last 50 years. Be that as it may, if the proof if inside the bottle, then we have ourselves another “greatest” vintage.

This is a wine to enjoy now while stashing some away to enjoy in years to come.

Drinking window: now until 2025

Château Cerestin Le Lande is from a highly revered appellation of Medoc in Bordeaux, a wine region that has been supplying Bordeaux wines of the very good values. These classic red wines from Bordeaux’s “left bank” are called “Clarets” by the British. The wines are made from traditional blending of mainly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot plus a bit of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Skillful wine-making perfected over many generations of wine-making result in wines of impeccable balance, a quality that is essential to imbuing the wine with the ability to improve with age over many years after bottling.

The 2010 vintage is generally regarded as the best year in Bordeaux for the last 50-100 years. Wines from such a perfect year have everything it takes to achieve greatness if given ample time to mature. While other great vintages of the decade of 2000 are already disappearing rapidly from the shelves, wine lovers are well advised to grab some of these good-value wines from the 2010 vintage to stash away now while supplies last and prices are reasonably low. There is no doubt in the minds of critics and connoisseurs that these wines will continue to improve with age for decades to come.
